CLOT x Air Jordan "JADE 5 LOW"

A prized symbol of China, jade is not only praised for its representation of beauty, protection, power, eternity, but also for its artistry. Due to its hardness, jade stones are abraded rather than carved, and the technique takes a lifetime to master. This resonates well with the qualities of Michael Jordan, known for his strength, grace, and mastering basketball as an art form. In tribute to two profound symbols of attaining mastery through unwavering perseverance, the CLOT x Air Jordan “JADE 5 LOW” was born.

The shoe’s textures and colors are reminiscent of Chinese jade ornaments that adorned the traditional attire of times past. “JADE 5 LOW” features a special black satin upper, reflective tongue, and jade-inspired details throughout.

As a nod to the translucency and glow of jade, signature Air Jordan 5 netting, lace lock, and sheer rubber outsole are rendered in green tones with glow-in-the-dark qualities. The number 23 – a symbol of Michael Jordan – is embroidered in Chinese characters near the co-branded logos at the rear. Jade beads are also arranged into twos and threes on the lace stays. The classic shark teeth detailing on the midsole is speckled silver that provides contrast from the rest of the shoe upper.

Believed to provide wearers with protection and luck, jade adornments were traditionally worn with red strings. This provided inspiration for the red elements of the shoe: the sockliner, reflective laces, and Jumpman logos on the tongue and insole.
